Red Squirrels

Saving Scotlands's Red Squirrels is a partnership project that is working to ensure red squirrels continue to be a part of Scotland's special native wildlife.

The project controls grey squirrels by live-trapping them then despatching the animals in the most humane way possible.  They welcome feedback on both red and grey squirrel sitings which can be recorded on their website site.

Their website is very comprehensive.  There is a link to it at the bottom of this page.

It also tells you all about the organisation, answers questions regarding their work, and how you can volunteer.

In addition the website has pages for children where more can be learned about red squirrels with colouring pictures that can be downloaded, plus games and puzzles.

The photograph was taken from the A710 showing a grey squirrel in the Southwick Wildlife Reserve.
