Colvend primary school
Just across from the Colvend Shop, Village hall and Treats and Eats tearoom is the fantastic Colvend Primary School. The school catchment includes the villages of Colvend, Rockcliffe, Kippford, Sandyhills and Caulkerbush – but children from surrounding areas are always welcome!
Colvend Primary is in partnership with Kirkgunzeon Primary; our partnership motto is Small Schools, Big Achievers! Mrs Alexandra Stores is our fantastic partnership headteacher.
Our school is special for lots of different reasons, but a big one is our incredible teaching and support staff! We have a wonderful teaching team compromising our two part time principal teachers, Miss Bell and Mr Wild, a part time support teacher, Mrs Harris, a part time support for learning teacher and two part time learning assistants.
We are currently a single class school, with 11 children enrolled. Our pupil to teacher ratios are fantastic, which means academically, children are able to reach their individual potential.
On fridays we have all together time, which is often at Kirkgunzeon School. The focus is on wellbeing activities, sports, music, drama and foreign languages, and of course opportunities for friendship.
The school has an active and enthusiastic Parent Council who help support events throughout out the year including christmas parties, community gardening days and beach barbecues. We also run a pre-school group on the last Monday of the month (term-time) for all children 0-5 and their parents. We are keen to make sure the school meets the needs of the community – if any parents are in need of early drop off, we will facilitate a breakfast club on request.

How to find us:
Its very easy! We are on the main road in Colvend! From the car park in front of the village hall there is a path leading up to a crossing point in front of the main school entrance. Behind the school, and accessed via the field gate across from the shop, is the community recreation field.
