Portling
The hamlet of Portling overlooks the Solway and incorporates a stony beach at Port O’Warren. The local coastguard base is in Portling.
If you are walking the coastal path from Sandyhills to Rockliffe, descend the steep driveway to Port O’Warren beach. It makes an excellent sheltered place for a coffee stop.
At low tide, it makes a pleasant walk from Sandyhills along the beach which will take you past a needle’s eye and Piper’s Cave.
