Colvend Church Sale
For over 100 years the Colvend Southwick and Kirkbean Parish has held a sale in aid of church funds on the second Thursday of August.
This normally takes place at Colvend Public Hall. Renowned for the bargains to be had people come from miles around to see what they can find and join in the fun,
At the 2019 sale the total takings were well over £5,000 – not bad in a matter of four hours. Thanks are due to everybody that made it such a success. There were almost 20 stalls or activities ranging from glitter tattoos to jewellery - something for all ages. But many people come for the bargains to be found on the books, fancy goods or bric-a-brac stalls. Thanks to the generosity of the local community all sorts of items are donated – and you never know what you will find. Also renowned are the teas. Delicious selections of sandwiches and cakes are available all afternoon. There are also delicious jams, bread and cakes to buy. Such an event requires a fair amount of organisation and support. Between manning stalls and setting up there must be over 60 prople involved in running the sale. However it sometimes seems we can never have enough volunteers therefore new helpers are always welcome. Use the email address below to seek more information.
Next year's sale will be on Thursday 13th August 2020. Outside stalls are open from 12 noon with the hall doors opening at 1.00pm for the inside stalls.
Donations of items for sale can be delivered to Colvend Public Hall on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the sale. Perishable itemes such as cakes and plants can be delivered on the day of the sale itself.
Worthwhile items and books can be donated at any time of the year. There is also the facility to store items if you cannot till the sale week. If you have anything to donate just email:
email@example.com and the message will be passed on.
