Colvend Church Sale
For over 100 years the Colvend Southwick and Kirkbean Parish has held a sale in aid of church funds on the second Thursday of August. Sadly this year it has again been cancelled. We hope it will return in 2023.
The sale normally takes place at Colvend Public Hall. Renowned for the bargains to be had people come from miles around to see what they can find and join in the fun,
At the 2019 sale, the last sale to take place due to Covid, the total takings were well over £5,000 – not bad in a matter of four hours. Thanks are due to everybody that made it such a success. There were almost 20 stalls or activities ranging from glitter tattoos to jewellery - something for all ages. But many people come for the bargains to be found on the books, fancy goods or bric-a-brac stalls. Thanks to the generosity of the local community all sorts of items are donated – and you never know what you will find. Also renowned are the teas. Delicious selections of sandwiches and cakes are available all afternoon. There are also delicious jams, bread and cakes to buy. Such an event requires a fair amount of organisation and support. Between manning stalls and setting up there must be over 60 people involved in running the sale. However it seems we can never have enough volunteers so new helpers are always welcome.
