The matters to be discussed are the proposed developments at Gillespie Leisure and in particular the planning application for a new car park (and associated facilities) covered by planning application number 23/1426/FUL. More details are available from the  Dumfries & Galloway Planning website. Just enter the Application Number.

 It is hoped that a representative will be present from Gillespie Leisure. 

The closing date for representations is currently 5th October, although we are lobbying the D&G Council to get that extended.

Colvend Church Sale

Tuesday, 8 August, 2023 - 10:00 to Wednesday, 9 August, 2023 - 20:00

In advance of the Church Sale on Thursday 10th August the hall will be open to receive donations from 10.00am to 12noon, 2.00pm to 4.00pm and 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Tuesday 8th july and Wednesday 9th July.  Quality items for the jewellery, fancy goods, china and glass stalls are particularly sought.  Our Bric-a-Brac stall encompasses everything from soft furnishings to paintings, electrical items to nick backs.  We accept most things but of course electronic items must be complete with instructions and we cannot cope with old televisions.  We do not have a book stall so no books please.

Evening Talk - the Local Place Plan

Developing a Local Place Plan for our Communities.

In the last 12 months the Scottish Government has introduced a totally new concept, "the Local Place Plan".  The Colvned and Southwick Area is aiming to be one of the first communities to establish such a plan.  Come and find out what it is all about and how you can get involved.

Speakers:  Nicola Hill Dumfries & Galloway Council and the Community Council LPP team.

Free wine and cheeses provided.  Entry is free of charge and no ticket are required for this event.

Saving Our Red Squirrels

Our lovely native red squirrels are under serious threat and disappearing fast. Members of The Solway Forest Red Squirrel Network, ( S.F.R.S.N.), will explain the extent of this threat and the work being carried out in order to save them from extinction.

Music for Midwinter

A SongWave Community Choir concert which will bring you songs and readings from many lands and traditions that bring warmth and heart to the season.

Tickets (which include seasonal refreshments) are priced at ‘Pay what you feel’ with a minimum price of £5 and a suggested price of £10, but you can pay anything in between and if you can afford more that would be lovely!
