All the Fun of the Sale!
For over 100 years the Colvend Southwich and Kirkbean Parish has held a sale in aid of church funds on the second Thursday of August.
This normally takes place at Colvend Public Hall. Renowned for the bargains to be had people come from miles around to see what they can find and join in the fun,
At the 2017 sale the total takings were over £6,000 – not bad in a matter of four hours. Thanks are due to everybody that made it such a success. There were almost 20 stalls or activities ranging from Glitter Tattoos to Jewellery - something for all ages. But many people come for the bargains to be found on the books, fancy goods or bric-a-brac stalls. Thanks to the generosity of the local community all sorts of items are donated – and you never know what you will find. As renowned as the bargains to be found are the teas. Delicious selections of sandwiches and cakes are available all afternoon. There is also delicious jams, bread and cakes to buy.
This year's sale will be on Thursday 9th August 2018 with the hall doors opening at 1.00pm. If they are ready the outside stalls may start selling earlier.
Last year one of the bargains was a George III hallmarked silver skewer or letter opener. On the internet over £400 can be aked for this sort of itme. At the sale it sold for a fraction of this price.
